Screw you Valentines day

While the whole world is celebrating valentines day, I was at home in my bed watching Forgetting Sarah Marshall.  I've seen this movie countless times yet it never fails to make me laugh. And Lo and behold I just noticed that Jason Segel is circumcised. I am such a big fan of his, and I just needed to know! (Sorry, I can't help but be curious. Please don't call me perv.).

So rather than greeting Peter a "Happy Valentines day"
I texted him "Did you know Jason Segel is circumcised? And he's a BIG boy!"

We've been together for 3 and a half years but we never celebrate Valentines day. Not ever. Why? We just don't believe in it. I never received any flowers, cards nor chocolates on Vday from him. I don't ever want to. I just think that Valentines is a holiday without a meaning or a pointless day I suppose. Don't get me wrong, but why do you need to treat someone really special on just one day when you could be sweet to that person everyday?

I'm not cynical but I think giving someone flowers, chocolates or gifts on Feb 14 is so pretentious. Just like following the bandwagon since everyone is doing it. As people flood my news feed on facebook with endless posts on how their boyfriends gave them flowers, cards, chocolates and pictures of their dates I can't help but to just laugh. Sorry I was just nauseated with cheeseballs overload. In my opinion, I won't feel special getting something on a day when everybody gets the same stuffs.

So yesterday, Peter and I went out to grab some lunch. While having some red wine and waiting for our filet mignon.

He said "Just to be clear, this is not a Valentines date. This is our usual lunch date"
I replied "Good, I'm happy we're on the same page" "And you know what else I don't get: Proposals on Christmas, Valentines, Anniversary and birthdays. You're an idiot if you don't see it coming, and a total cliche. I hate it"

He replied "Don't worry when that day comes, Its gonna be on a random day, You wont see it coming"
I replied "Good"

I am contented and happy on whatever we have right now. For me that is enough. No need for flowers that will die in my vase nor chocolates that will be consumed in a day but something bigger than that. Something that could never be bought.

So today, while a lot of the girls are giggling and posting a recap of how their date went last night. I can't help but laugh on his message this morning " What you up to? Looking at Jason Segels' penis again? "
